About two out of every three Mozambicans, totalling around 30,3 million people, live in rural areas and face significant logistical hurdles. To address this, Laxton came up with a comprehensive solution that gave all eligible citizens the chance to register to vote in municipal and general elections. This involved expanding the nation’s IT infrastructure, updating voter registration and verification technology, and offering custom mobile Biometric Registration Kits. As a result, the country saw its highest voter turnout and the most trustworthy elections to date.
